Bibliothèque from the Maison du Mexique by Charlotte Perriand

As a young designer, she was turned away harshly by Le Corbusier with the infamous quote: ‘we don’t embroider cushions here’, only to impress him with her talent shortly after, leading to a long-lasting collaboration. Charlotte Perriand is one of the few successful women designers of her time and a true modernist.

Inspired by her time in Japan, she designed several shelving solutions leading to ‘Nuage’, in the mid-1950s, which is a full range of bookshelves and cupboards.
